Are you a dog person or a cat person?

Most people have a strong stance on whether they're a dog person or a cat person. Arguments for both sides makes purrfect sense, but ultimately, it's just an instinctive feeling. Cat people are usually more independent, and might even be introverted. They enjoy more the subtly of love, affection, and low responsibilities with their pet. Cats aren't nearly as demanding as dogs are, they don't command constant attention. Everything is on their terms and for many people that makes a bond with a cat feel intentional and earned, unlike dogs who give their affection away easily. When a cat chooses to sit beside you, curl up on your chest, or follow you from room to room, it feels small but it's actually full of meaning. Cat people enjoy the presence of cats and their ability to be quiet instead of noisy. Cats are content to share silence, to nap nearby while you read or work, and to exist without needing to be entertained. They're more ritualistic and have a clearer routine.

Being a dog person is so wildly different. Dog people have to have a stronger sense of responsibility and interaction. They can't be idle or leave home for so many hours on end. They have to wake up early and immediately take their dog outside for the bathroom. They like that connection with the animal, the dog's enthusiasm, and doing shared activities together, such as hiking or going to the pub. Dogs wear their hearts on their sleeves, unlike cats. Their affection is obvious, joyful, and constant. A dog is always happy to see you, unlike a cat who might run away the second you come home. Dog people enjoy the structure and routine they have with their pup. Daily walks, playtime, dog beaches, training, and shared lives. Dogs force you to be more extroverted, and you're bound to make friends outside with a fellow dog owner. It can create a sense of purpose in the person that feels incredibly rewarding.
